# Signature Stakes

## What is a Signature Stake?

A **Signature Stake** is a WISE stake created with the **"I prefer this stake to be transferable"** option enabled when [staking WISE](/wise-token/staking_wise.md). Unlike a standard stake, a Signature Stake:

* Can be **transferred** to another wallet or used directly by third-party DeFi protocols
* Remains **scrapable** — interest can be collected at any time without affecting the principal
* Keeps earning its full staking APY and bonuses for the length of the stake, for durations up to **42 years**

## Signature Stakes as Collateral

Because a Signature Stake is a transferable, verifiable on-chain position with a predictable, growing value, it can be pledged as collateral to open a **line of credit** without ever unstaking — and therefore without losing — the underlying WISE.

This already works today on general-purpose NFT/position-collateral lending markets such as [anvil.xyz](https://anvil.xyz), and is also the foundation for a native Wise collateral product currently in development.

## The Largest WISE Staking Position

The Signature Stakes contract (`0x48791DbDFB38bAA58e48329148C321bF33B3c1e1`) is the single largest WISE staking position in the ecosystem — holding roughly a quarter of all staked WISE. ## How to Create a Signature Stake

1. Go to <https://stake.wise.one> and click **Create WISE stake**.
2. Set your staking amount and duration as usual.
3. Turn on **I prefer this stake to be transferable**.
4. Confirm the transaction — your stake is now transferable and can be used as collateral.
