# WISE Token

WISE Token is the foundational reserve asset of the Wise ecosystem, designed to foster sustainable growth and provide deep liquidity.

## Overview

WISE Token serves as the reserve token within the Wise ecosystem. Its key features include:

* **Deep Liquidity:** A significant WISE/ETH liquidity pool on Uniswap ensures efficient trading.
* **Ecosystem Foundation:** Enables other tokens to pair with WISE, leveraging its ETH conversion path.
* **Sustainable Growth:** Designed with a measured inflation schedule and a deflationary buy-and-burn mechanism.

## Key Features & Tokenomics

### Fair Launch & Locked Liquidity

**Fair Launch** refers to 100% of the ETH raised during the WISE launch event being used to create the WISE/ETH liquidity pool, and the LP tokens were burned, permanently locking the liquidity.

* **Transparent Auction:** Launched via a transparent auction event in November-December 2020.
* **Locked Liquidity:** The WISE/ETH liquidity pool on Uniswap is permanently locked, ensuring stability.

### Buy & Burn Mechanism

**Buy & Burn** refers to revenue generated from the Wise ecosystem being used to buy and burn WISE tokens, reducing the token supply and potentially increasing its value.

* **Deflationary:** A portion of Wise ecosystem revenue is used to buy and burn WISE tokens.
* **Value Accrual:** This mechanism aims to increase the value of WISE over time.

### Community & Distribution

**Community Distribution** refers to WISE being designed with a focus on broad community participation and sustainable growth, avoiding large team allocations and high inflation rates.

* **Community-Oriented:** Launched with a focus on broad community distribution.
* **Sustainable Inflation:** Designed with a measured inflation schedule.

## The Vision for WISE (from Founder Peter Girr)

> "We started by collecting Ether from the community and creating a WISE/ETH liquidity pool on Uniswap where we burned the LP tokens to secure the liquidity. This approach gives WISE token a foundation backed by the ETH in the pool. We then developed revenue-generating DeFi applications that use a portion of their fees to buy and burn WISE tokens. As this mechanism continues, we believe WISE may appreciate against ETH, potentially making it attractive for other projects to pair their tokens with WISE. This could create a network effect that benefits the entire ecosystem. By building an open system that focuses on community value rather than concentrating benefits to founders, we're aiming to create a sustainable model that stands apart from traditional approaches."
